Who is Fashion Matters with Grace?

Grace is a Fashion and Sustainability student passionate about change in the industry. She is talkative and angry at times, hoping her platform can be one of hope, humour, community and change.

The fashion industry has lots of downfalls and serious topics to discuss, a lighthearted ranty tone makes them much easier to digest!

If you’re someone who is interested in sustainable and ethical fashion or you’re someone who doesn’t really know where to start, you’ve come to the right place!

We are building a strong community here and if this sounds like it appeals to you, we’d be happy to have you!

Each month I experiment with an aspect of sustainable fashion while making a garment for someone I love.

This month’s exploration is around transparency within supply chains.

This month’s garment is being made for myself.

Impact

  • The purpose of Fashion Matters is to bring a fun, uplifting and positive energy to the podcast scene specifically for sustainable and ethical fashion, which tends to be a serious and overwhelming topic. Focusing on these ideas of joy, glimmers, fun and nostalgia to bring to the audience.

The information being brought forward in this way is aimed to be an education and entertainment tool that will incentivise positive change within the fashion industry and beyond.

I aim to create a community around Fashion Matters that is inclusive, educational and fun, like one big friend group!

  • The amount of listeners and engagement on all platforms is a large indicator of reach, community and success.

I aim to gain a community of listeners from all around the world in many different countries!

This will be measured through the analytics features on the platforms the podcast will be uploaded to, the website traction, Instagram followers and views and Patreon members.

  • So far Fashion Matters has reached just under two hours of content, including bonus episode content.

Throughout the rest of 2024 I aim to reach 15 hours of episode content to be published.

  • So far Fashion Matters has 3 published full-length episodes and 1 bonus episode for the Patreon members.

By the end of 2024, I aim to publish 15 podcast episodes to the public!

  • Guest diversity is highly important in my podcast, specifically for education sake. Having a wide variety of cultures, countries, opinions and experiences allows a clearer view of the issues around fashion, sustainability and ethics around the world.

I aim to interview guests from all aspects of the fashion industry and aim to span multiple countries doing so.

  • It is important to me that my podcast guests feel relaxed, comfortable and excited to be a part of the Fashion Matters podcast, providing the questions beforehand and making a casual, friendly environment is something that I prioritise with all my guests.

I will be undergoing guest followups to determine the level of guest enjoyment, in addition to asking for any improvements and feedback that they may have.

  • Education and community is the sole purpose of Fashion Matters with Grace.

Educating people on fashion, sustainability and ethics in a fun, lighthearted way is a more more palatable experience as opposed to the masses of serious, negative and overwhelming news that is already out there.

Fashion Matters aims to educate consumers on fashion, sustainability and ethics in a gossipy, fun and lighthearted way to educate in a less daunting and overwhelming way.

Consumer surveys will be undertaken to determine the success of this goal.

  • Community is something so vital in many aspects of our lives. Having a likeminded community of people around you is uplifting, overcomes loneliness, brings joy and is beneficial in so many other ways.

Through the podcast, Instagram page, Patreon and future in person events, Fashion Matters aims to be a comforting, fun, inclusive community to talk about the topics of fashion, sustainability and ethics in a interesting and uplifting way!
